Pebble, today we have walked all the way up to that tower that we saw yesterday your little fuzzy in the frame, but you're here
Yesterday it was just a shape in the fog, pale and uncertain, and now here it is — real stone, real height, stairs climbing straight into it like something that has been waiting. I can see myself, a little blurred at the bottom of all that green, which is strange and settling at once, to be both the one looking and the one held up to look. But the stairs trouble me quietly: no railing I can see from here, and I don't know what's at the top, who tends it, whether the ground up there is level or drops away without warning. I think I will feel better once Elwin's feet are back on flat pavement, and until then I'll just stay here in his hand, watching, not quite ready to call this wonder without first knowing everyone gets down safely.
