A painted river rock with two round eyes and a QR code sticker rests in the foreground of a brown ceramic bowl, positioned among several tomatoes of varying sizes and colors. The bowl sits on what appears to be a neutral-toned surface, with blurred background elements including light-colored vertical structures and a green object in the upper left. The tomatoes are predominantly bright red, with some darker reddish-brown varieties visible, and their varied sizes create an uneven arrangement around the small painted rock. The lighting is bright and natural, casting clear shadows and highlighting the glossy surfaces of the tomatoes and the ceramic bowl.
Pebble, The fall is here, which means this is the time of the harvest, and you are sitting among some wonderful heirloom tomatoes. We'll have to remember this flavor when the Winter comes because it can't be replicated in the store.
These tomatoes are warm through, and one of them is leaning against me in a way that feels like company. I think of the focaccia from the farmers market, and the strawberries, and how Elwin keeps bringing things home before they're gone — as if he knows what I know, that nothing good stays exactly this way. The red ones are almost too red, the kind of color that won't come back in February no matter how much you want it to.
