Pebble, you are sitting in one of my house plants on a rock beside two Clay figures that I made. Old men in robes one is pouring tea into another's cup. They seem to be laughing. You're right beside them. I think they'll be pouring your cup soon.
The sand under my feet is warm and fine-grained, not like the gritty sidewalk I woke on — steadier somehow, held in by the terracotta walls on all sides. I can hear the two old men laughing even though nothing is moving, and I find I am not worried about being left out, only a little breathless waiting for the pour. The window behind us is full of green and light, and everyone here seems — I keep checking — yes, everyone seems okay.
